In The Beginning Was The End

As the traditional folk tale of the Milkhare originates from Scandinavia, research has focused on the myths of North Germanic and Scandinavian Iron Age societies, notably the Vikings. Their Nordic Pagan beliefs drew upon the natural world for religious design [1] and their ideas, therefore, were rooted in the logic of natural phenomena; the wax and wane of the moon, the ever changing seasons, the relentless cycle of life and death.

To the Norse mind, our lives are pre-determined, at the mercy of a destiny as unstoppable as the tides. Fate therefore, not free-will, was the prevailing ideology in Norse mythology. And most striking was the idea that all beings are subject to it, gods and men alike [2].
